Army of Robots

I have thirty plus years’ experience as an multi-media designer and artist, with both local and international projects and exhibitions. In more recent years I have been working in film and television in the role of production designer and art director.

I bring a balanced approach to my work, functioning from the multi perspectives of designer, scientist, technologist, and artist.  My primary focus is design, but with a secondary exploration of the intersections of art and design. This blending is demonstrated in many of my various works and projects. Processing the needs and desires of each project through the collaborative views of designer and artist allows for each project to be rooted in the base expression of the user or audience needs, a mode for storytelling and commentary, and a consideration for schedule, materials, labour, and budget. 

I have been an active member with many professional and non-profit organizations that support both art and design. I have served on the Board of Directors for the British Columbia Industrial Designers Association, and  the board for the Association of Canadian Industrial Designers and Burn BC Arts Cooperative.  Currently, I am a Board Member of the BIL Conference.

I have also been involved as a design lead and logistic consultant for the International Arts Megacrew (IAM), which has completed several large scale art projects for the annual Burning Man Arts Festival in Nevada in recent years, including the Temple of Transition (2011), Additionally, I have contributed to the The Bleachers Art Car (2013-15), 

The Control Tower (2013), and The Catacomb of Veils (2016) as a design and logistics lead, and currently as a member of the Mayan Warrior project. I have also executed several art projects of my own for exhibition at the Burning Man festival and other art festivals. 

Additional graphic and multi-medium artworks of mine have also been exhibited at local and international galleries during the last 20 plus years. 

I have physically stood on all seven continents, and was born with sectoral or partial heterochromia.
